Welcome to the Arts Union Science Podcast!

You’ve heard the podcast, now you’re seeing the website! Arts Union Science is happy to have you here and we hope you enjoy your stay

My name is Tyler D.R. Vance and I am the creator – yes, the one responsible – of the Arts Union Science Podcast! Every week, scientists and science-adjacent film buffs gather to provide new, intellectually stimulating content formatted the same way as any good academic work is presented – at the last minute without nearly enough prep work. Join new and recurring guests and I as we dive into discussions about newly released films, timeless classics, sequels that should never have been made, actors, directors, cinematographers, gaffers, and best boys. Check your thesis at the door and join us on the Arts Union Science Podcast!

Have an idea for a movie to watch and discuss? Agree (or, I suppose, disagree) with any of our findings? Feel free to send us an email any time!

Arts Union Science: Future Me Archives

Join “Future Tyler” and “Future Steven” as they *finally* watch every movie on their bucket list of movies they always meant to watch but just never did for whatever reason! No spoilers, but the list includes some all-time classic films, movies with instantly recognizable quotes, and movies you can only roll your eyes at that we haven’t watched until now. Really something for everyone!

Arts Union Science: Grants Panel

An exercise in awarding good movies the way others award good science, the Arts Union Science Grant Panels provide counter-programming for the Academy Awards by discussing and granting our own awards to the Best Picture nominees of each year.

Arts Union Science: Journal Submissions

The flag-ship series of the Arts Union Science fleet, our journal submissions analyze movies in the format usually reserved for scientific papers. Join Tyler D. R. Vance and a rotating door of talented co-authors as they perform deep dives on everything from childhood classics to art-house masterpieces to genre fair.

Arts Union Science: Theses

An on-going mission that pays homage to the Sisyphean task of writing a thesis. Watch in awe and horror as a neophyte to a film series or topic watches a bunch of movies to become the very thing they swore to destroy: an expert in the field.
